STRING STORMTROOPER

Yeahhh!! ALL THINGS STAR WARS!

This was a really fun project that was inspired by some string art I saw on Pinterest. However, my eldest brother's birthway was coming up and I wanted to make him something different. I'm a really huge fan of trying out different mediums and for me, the fun part is figuring out how you're even going to go about making something.

I found a cheap chunk of wood at Michaels, directly applied a combination of red and black acrylic paint to the board and just went wild. I wanted some kind of "stain," that was more interesting than black and something you could still see through. After I finished it off with a glossy top coat, I made myself stencils for the storm trooper helmet. It was interesting figuring out how to use outlines to create form, and what shapes to create to still have those outlines... if that makes sense? I ended up breaking them down in to 3 main shapes! I will admit to needing some help with physically hammering the pieces in because I'm extremely weak. And THEN figuring out the right pattern for the string was interesting because you couldn't just stick it on there. It took a lot of attempts to find something that would work. I don't think it came out perfect, but I had so much fun making it! I just really really loved the combination of medium and topic. Woo!
